Who keeps this journal

A common starling at rest on a branch
Plate. Sturnus vulgaris, at rest — the one, from which the many on the front page are made.

Starling Foundries is Cameron Sajedi's engineering practice. A decade-plus across distributed systems and scientific computing, currently concentrated on giving spatial data a trustworthy substrate. The practice maintains the Python rHEALPix reference implementation and has presented its work to the OGC Discrete Global Grid Systems Standards Working Group.

About this site

Set in IM Fell English and EB Garamond, self-hosted. No font CDNs, no trackers, no analytics. The murmuration on the front page is a Canvas 2D Reynolds flocking simulation: alignment, cohesion, separation, and a slight fondness for your cursor. Press N for nightfall, · to still the flock.

This page was rewritten in June 2026 with help from a next-generation language model and considerable human taste.
